CTAC 1 and 2

This curriculum is classroom-based with limited Live-fire range exercises.  Topics we cover are listed below and may vary by class.

Firearms and Personal Defense Fundamentals, Emergency Trauma Care

  • SAFETY check at the DOOR and every re-entry to ensure a safe training environment.
  • “Stop The Bleed” training and certification in emergency trauma response (HANDS-ON and practiced in class).  
  • “Demystifying the Gun”.  Firearm fundamentals – function, takedown, mags, holsters, belts, sights/alignment.
  • How to practice effectively so you can build skills utilizing your internal learning mechanisms.
  • Footwork and foundation for moving through space/crowds and dynamic shooting principles.
  • Draws from a Holster – 5 stages of Draw and 3 ranges of presentation and weapon retention.
  • Delayed and Obscured Draw. 
  • Making the critical “prey-to-predator” switch that can save your life.

Dynamic Defensive Shooting, Carjacking Defense, and Mental Strength

  • Balance, Movement, and using cover versus a threat.
  • Dynamic shooting from various positions (seated, ground, on back, on side, etc.)
  • Moving and shooting, drawing while moving, footwork triangles, how to fall, and how to get up.
  • Low-light decision making and threat discernment
  • Weapon malfunction recognition and clearance steps.
  • Carjacking avoidance, defense, and prevention strategies.
  • Self-Defense Core Principles: Balance, Movement, Targeting, Looseness, and violence of action/forward pressure.
  • Certificate of Completion, eligibility for CTAC 2 and a super cool Conditioned Response decal.
